Telecom Expense Management Industry Association gets strong endorsement from Gartner

More than 20 of the top-ranked firms in the latest Gartner MarketScope for Telecom Expense Management have banded together to form the Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA). Their goal is promote the benefits of telecom expense management. They are actively seeking a broad range of members, including TEM-related companies, carriers, resellers, and ASP, SaaS and BPO software and services providers. In addition, analyst firms can join for $20,000 and associates for $1,000.

On behalf of their clients, the founding members help control in excess of US$20 billion in domestic and international expenses associated with voice, data, and wireless communications.

Gartner has estimated that the TEM market will generate revenue from software and IT services of more than $400 million in 2006. According to Gartner, the market will grow at a compound annual rate of almost 40% from 2006 to 2010, reaching $1.5 billion in 2010.

"The formation of TEMIA comes at exactly the right point in the advancement of the TEM industry," says Eric Goodness, Research Vice President for Gartner, Inc. "It is essential that an association such as TEMIA exists so that communications and cooperation are facilitated between market players to advance TEM solutions adoption,” continued Goodness. “Gartner views TEMIA as a valuable resource to educate customers, outsourcers and carriers about the best practices to best manage network and telecom related assets and expenses."

“Our goal is to help TEM service providers, their partners, their customers, and their customer’s vendors to understand and achieve the substantial benefits available through effective TEM," said David Perdue, TEMIA Board Member and Membership Committee Chairman. "The rapid emergence of an industry like TEM often necessitates a strong educational effort to promote its wide-ranging benefits. We will seek to put forward this information to all interested parties. We will also look for other opportunities to further TEMIA’s goals, such as establishing standards with carriers, holding annual meetings and providing industry representation at trade shows and other forums."

TEMIA’s first member meeting is scheduled for March 8th and 9th at the Gaylord Resort and Spa in Orlando, Florida, following the VoiceCon Spring 2007 Conference. Visit the TEMIA website for additional membership information and contacts.
